Elaki (Language Nahuatl means "sad")

Elaki we found in a horrible situacion. This little guy from the first moment we spoke to him was so thankful. We saw him walking slowely and without strengh, very dirty and he smelled like cadaver. Probably he ate one because of so hungry he was. The people around him were showing at him and named him "disgusting"! When we saw him we just wanted to help him. We spoke to him and he turned around and did not believe that its real. He turned around again and keep walking. The second time we call him going down with our whole body, his little tale began to move full of emocion and he start walking slow in our direcion.. After all he did not lost the confidence in human..

Elaki was always a little shy, calm and afraid of doing things wrong. In 3 days he learnd walking with leash, but he liked more taking the end of the leash in his own mouth. He was so sweet. In some weeks he looked like really precious and people start to say: "Oh how cute" .. now he was clean and healthy... Elaki was happy with us, althrough this said "something" in his eyes- it was always there..

Akito ( means "little devil" in Japonese)

Akito was walking through the streets looking for food. Like he was still little and sweet the people sometimes gaves him a little food. Althrough he was skinny. He news how to convence the people and in the street they already knew him.

But he could not make that people gives him the atention in another way, he would have prefered. Nobody wanted to take the responsibility to give him a home. So the third day we saw him, we decide making him part of our family. 3 days before christmas finally he found what he was looking for, and also for us he was a great present

Balu

(as a puppy he looked like a baby bear, Balu for the Bear of mogli)

The story of Balu is very sad. We found him with his 2 brothers in a place where all the trash goes. Somebody found it funny to hide them under a peace of car where the heat down was almost cooking them.

Akito foun them and we took them home, Like they were really small and they would have needed their mum, Balu¨s brothers dont make it. He was the strongest and biggest one. That saves him his life.

The death of his brothers seems really hard for Balu. The last hours he did not move from their side and when the last one died he just sit down infront of him and looking at him and then he move his head down to the floor for more than 5 minutes like he would have been crying. We all cryed feeling his pain.

After that day Balu lost his saidness very fast. Like we were the only family he still had, he always was close to us and when we left him alone, he was screeming very loud. 2 Week after he learned walking, in the streets he already walked behind us everytime close and without leash. It was a really pretty scene. He grew up fast and healthy. He was adopted when he was 5 month from a really lovely family with two kids

Huesito (little bone)

We found Huesito when we were looking for a place to sleep. Like it was raining very strong we could not put our tent wherever. We found a abandonded house and infront of them Huesito was lying on the ground, rolled up himself from cold and did not move. We had to feel his heartbeat to know if he is alive. Even when we took him up he don¨t move, he felt like pure bones, nothing of meat. We took him with us in the abandoned house preparing some dried animal food with water, sal and suger.

When he smelled it he was moving his head and trying to get the food. To see that it we felt a big allevation. After 3 days for the first time he tryed to walk. He need 3 days more to walk without falling down. After 2 weeks he was adopted.

Vaga (Vagabound)

Vaga knew how to move very well on the street. After greeting her only once, she no longer moved from our side. She moved her butt like crazy, lowered her head and kept her distance so as not to be overbearing. As we stayed longer in a place to sell handicrafts, she left and came back, she left and came back and then she continued the journey with us for a while.

Franzi

Franzi was thrown away. When I went for tortillas I heard him screeming down thorn bushes upside the canal. We needed almost 2 hours to get him out of there. He wants help but he was too afraid and so he always get back when we were near. But when we went away he start screeming again. With a little bit of food we could get him out at the 3rd try.

He was very little and very thankful. Everytime he was sleepy and when not he was very careful with all the new things. After the first night he saw us like his parents and he felt home and safe. The most of the time while traveling he was sleeping in the backback. When we crossed the border to guatemala he was also sleeping and as there was no control of the bags, they did not saw him. Thanks to that he could cross with us without documents, and thanks to that he found a really nice place in a ranch in guatemala. We remember the little guy with so much affection in our heart

Ronronealdo ( ronronear =purring and he is the purring Ronaldo)

Ronny was not found. We were found by him. One day we walked with our dogs and this little guy was looking at us from the other side of the street down a car. He did not need 2 seconds to decide, that he blongs to us and at the same moment he jumped out of his hide and crossed the street - without looking left or right, he was not afraid of the dogs and just stayed by our side - until now

Until now he is more a dog than a cat, because he had more dog- brothers during his life. He acompanied us 3 Years of travel and often he was the reason holding us together in so much difficult situacions. Thats why he is the only one who will stay with us his whole life and will be the leader and boss of the Oasis :)

Mitzi

She was abandoned directly infront of the house we lived in for a while. Her screeming woke us up in the morning. When we saw her she was so afraid, but when we came near and spoke with her in her face there was a kind of reliev and smile. It was no problem to take her up. Like there was many dogs on the street and other dangers we took her in the hous with us. She was very thin and with diarrhea.

Everytime she was very grateful and in need of touch. She was everytime up on us and purring. Just when we saw her in the eyes she starts purring.

Pajaropollo ( Pajaro- Pollo/ Bird - Chicken)

Pajaropollo was found in Mexico City, On this day our bus "casually" took another route and when Omar saw him on the street he get out of the bus and picked him up. Probably the little dove falled out of the nest, but there was nothing to see where it could come. He took him home, we wash him to get off the little insects in his feathers. Then we put him warm all over the night. he was not moving and his heart goes very fast. In the next morning, when we saw that he was breathing we were happy. Like his mum I took food in my mouth and let him pick up the mash directly from my mouth (his whole head disapeard in my mouth it was funny to see) We were happy that he ate and he grew up to a beautiful adult dove. He was never afraid of nothing and everything what moves he wanted to go there. Everytime he wanted to lie down on a piece of cloth or pillow or something. Like he grew up with dog, cat and human, he seemed to forgot what he really is. But what he REALLy was, was a familiy member, and we loved him and that is the important thing, not his species. When we did the first fly- lessons he did not like it and everytime come back to our shoulder. He nerver liked flying. And so he just acompanied us on our shoulder. Like Akito he cames to our family like a christmas present.

Stinki

We heard the little kitty crying loud down a brige in a stinking canal- river. While we were thinking to long, how we can go down we already saw his little body drifting by without life. I jumped down without thinking more and get him out. When I saw he is already dying in my hands i gave him to Omar, which revived him mouth- to mouth. It was incredible. He breathed again. Stinki and I were tembling and stinking almost the whole way back home (2 days by foot)

He needed almost 2 weeks to come near to us. He was always afraid of everything. One month later he was adopted by a caring lovely family.

Fussl, Pelusa

Fussl looked like a grey mop when we saw her on the street. She could almost not move and also not see. We cut her grid and washed her. Then a little white pudel appears.

nameless

Balus sister and brother

The lilltle blacky

It could be that the people from the village just thrownd him on the street because he was very sick. People passed close to him and saw him and they did not do anything. The sun was burning so hot and the puppy tried to move but he was without strengh. We took him with us and put him comfortable. He died in the night, but surrounded with love

Inseperable siblings

Two siblings abandoned in a abandonded garden. The grey one falled down to the canal and they were screeming each other very loud. So we found them. We went down for the brother and it was no problem to pick him up, other wis his sister, the red one. We had to leave the brother so that he could go in the garden and go for her sister. But she was too afraid. Althrough the gris kitty came to us, the red one not. With a little bit meat we could get her. It was a fight with claws and teeth but we could not leave them and also not just take one with us. Shortly before we came to our home, the red cat could escape and she run into a high fence where we couldnt pass. So we just took the brother with us. He was happy and thankful purring all the time. In the night he was crying and his sister was crying from the other side. But the little boy was very tired and comfortable with us so he almost sleep away while crying for his "better part". And the next morning... :

Stinki (German: smelly)

Stinki we pulled from a canal. When we heard him screaming under a bridge and it took us too long to see how to get down, the little kitten was already floating below. We jumped, we ran into the canal behind him, we had to revive him after taking him out.

Stinki took almost 2 weeks until he had the confidence to approach.

He has the place with the "nameless" boys because he also deserves a name, which does not recall his history. He was adopted almost three weeks later.
